Our Portugal Travel Guide.  Portugal is one of our favorite countries to explore. It’s the kind of place that stays with you: the history in the streets, the coastal views, the food you keep thinking about later, and the people who make you feel welcome. If you’re planning a trip to Portugal (for the first time or your fifth), we wanted to make it easy to find all of our Portugal posts in one spot. Below you’ll find each city and region we’ve written about, along with a short excerpt and a link to the full post so you can plan, dream, and save what you need.

Our Portugal Travel Guide

Lisbon

Lisbon, Portugal: A City to Savor has a way of pulling you in gently… and then not letting go. Raun and I have been there more than once, and every time we leave we start talking about when we’ll come back. It’s the light (Lisbon glows), the hills, the tiled buildings, the way the city somehow feels both lively and laid-back at the same time. If you’re looking for a city that’s rich in history, full of personality, and easy to fall for, this is it.  Read the full Lisbon post.

Sintra

Sintra Portugal: A Fairytale Day Trip. Sintra feels like stepping into a real-life fairytale. It’s perched in the cool, green hills just outside Lisbon, and it’s packed with dreamy architecture, dramatic viewpoints, and gardens that make you want to slow down and look a little closer. It’s absolutely one of the best day trips from Lisbon… but I’ll say this upfront: Sintra is a workout. The good kind. The kind you’ll be glad you did, as long as you show up prepared. Cascais

With its relaxed pace and timeless beauty, it’s no wonder travelers return again and again. Experience the magic of Cascais: Portugal’s Coastal Gem—and discover why it remains one of Europe’s hidden treasures. Read the full Cascais post

Porto

Porto Portugal wasn’t just a destination—it was an experience we’ll carry with us long after we’ve left. From sipping Port wine by the river to savoring every bite of food, every moment had a way of leaving a lasting impression. A highlight? Cruising the Douro River, surrounded by the stunning vineyards of the Douro Valley. The city’s charm is more than its sights; it’s in the rhythm of its streets, the warmth of its people, and the little surprises along the way. It’s the kind of place that stays with you, and we’re already dreaming of our return. Read the full Porto post.

Lagos

Lagos, Portugal was one of those places Raun and I didn’t just like. We were genuinely blown away. Tucked along the Algarve coast in southern Portugal, Lagos is where dramatic golden cliffs meet bright turquoise water, and every turn seems to come with another “wait… look at this” moment. It has that rare mix of historic charm and natural beauty that makes you want to slow down, stay longer, and start planning your return before you’ve even left. Read the full Lagos post

Vilamoura

Vilamoura, located on Portugal’s Algarve coast, merges ancient and modern influences. Once a Roman settlement, it still reveals traces of its past at sites like the Cerro da Vila ruins, showcasing remains of Roman baths, mosaics, and a former trading port. For centuries, it was a quiet fishing village. In the 1970s, it transformed into one of Portugal’s most luxurious resort towns. Today, Vilamoura is famed for its world-class marina, championship golf courses, and stunning beaches. Its rich history adds depth to its modern charm. Sharing our trip to Vilamoura Portugal. Tavira

Tucked away in the eastern Algarve, Tavira is a charming town that feels like stepping back in time. With its cobbled streets, tiled houses, and a mix of Portuguese and Moorish influences, it’s the perfect place to slow down and soak in the beauty of the Algarve. A day trip Visiting Tavira.
