Mont Saint-Michel Abbey in Normandy
Stepping Into History
Reaching Mont Saint-Michel felt like stepping into medieval times. Rising dramatically from the tidal bay, this magnificent abbey has stood for over a thousand years, captivating visitors with its beauty and mystique. Originally founded in 708 AD by Bishop Aubert of Avranches, legend has it that the Archangel Michael himself appeared in a vision instructing him to build the abbey. Through the centuries, Mont Saint-Michel evolved from a humble sanctuary into a grand Benedictine monastery, surviving wars, sieges, and the test of time.
A Climb Through Time

The climb to the top was a challenge (multiple breaks were a must!!!), but every step was worth it. The breathtaking architecture, serene cloisters, and panoramic views of the bay were nothing short of magical. Walking through its ancient stone halls, we could almost hear the whispers of history echoing through the walls.
One of the most fascinating aspects of Mont Saint-Michel is its ever-changing surroundings. Depending on the tide, it transforms from an isolated island to a land-connected marvel, creating a truly unique landscape. It’s easy to see why it has inspired countless artists, writers, and dreamers for centuries.
Mont Saint-Michel Abbey is truly a treasure that lives up to its reputation. If you ever get the chance, don’t miss this experience—it’s worth every step! Whether for its history, architecture, or sheer beauty, this timeless wonder will leave you in awe.
