The moment Raun and I touched down in Maui, we could feel the magic right away. It was all so stunning—golden beaches, turquoise waves, and palm trees swaying in the breeze. It really felt like paradise.

Everywhere we went, something amazing caught our eye—from lush rainforests to incredible volcanic craters. Maui blew us away at every turn, making us feel both excited and in awe. It was like each moment was part of our own adventure, and we couldn’t wait to explore more and take in everything the island had to offer. Maui Hawaii: An Island Adventure waiting for you.

Driving the Road to Hana feels like stepping into a postcard. This scenic drive offers breathtaking views, lush rainforests, and spectacular waterfalls that will leave you mesmerized. For the best experience, consider taking a guided tour. Navigating the winding roads yourself can be challenging, and local guides know exactly where to find those hidden waterfalls and picture-perfect spots. Plus, they’ll share fascinating stories and insights about the island’s rich history and culture.

Travel Tip: Plan to rent a car well before you arrive in Maui. It’s not uncommon for car rentals to be fully booked, and you wouldn’t want to miss out on exploring the island at your leisure.

Exploring Maui

Must-See Spots and Activities

  • Haleakalā National Park: Witness an awe-inspiring sunrise or explore the crater’s unique landscapes.
  • Whale Watching: If you visit during the season (December to May), don’t miss the chance to see majestic humpback whales.
  • Hiking Trails: Explore trails like the Pipiwai Trail for stunning views and more waterfalls.

Visiting Lahaina Post-Fire

  •  Areas Open for Visitors: While Lahaina itself is in recovery, many parts of West Maui are open and safe to visit, including Kaanapali, Napili, Honokowai, Kahana, and Kapalua. These areas offer plenty of opportunities to enjoy Maui’s beauty while supporting local businesses (source: Maui Resort Rentals).
  •  Places to Avoid: Please avoid driving into the Lahaina residential burn zones. Respect the recovery process and the privacy of those affected by the fires (source: TripAdvisor).

Supporting the Community

  • Support Local Businesses: Eating at local restaurants, shopping at local stores, and participating in local tours can help rebuild the economy and support those directly affected by the fires.
  • Volunteer and Donate: Consider supporting volunteer efforts or donating to local charities working on restoration and relief. Organizations like All Hands and Hearts are actively involved in recovery efforts.
  •  Stay Informed and Respectful: Keep up-to-date with the latest information about which areas are open and respect any requests or guidelines provided by authorities and local residents. This will help ensure that your visit is both enjoyable and considerate of the ongoing recovery efforts.
